Discover the mountainous village Don

The village is located at 40km from Buon Ma Thuot city in Dak Lak province to the West and the village eco-tourism spot in Krong Na commune, Buon Don district is a famous destination for the mysteriously natural landscapes and it’s good for research tourism or discovery of the ethnic cultures for eco-tourism and for lovers of nature, fauna and flora.

Visitors to Buon Don are opportune to find out cultural life, daily customs of the ethnic groups or visit tomb –architecture Khundjunob or go on field-trips on elephant-backs to cross Serepok river, the one and onlu river in Viet Nam that runs upstream to the West, through stone-mounts and forest. A small bamboo bridge will lead you to an island-island-village beyond the river, named by a M’Nong boy and a female village – chief of Ede minority and henceforth, a village of elephant hunters was established. The villagers hunt and tame the elephants. Moreover, visiting the national garden Yok Don is also available to discover more and more rare animals with mysteries.

From Buon Don, on small wooden boats, visitors ride downstream the Serepok river to the waterfalls: Keng Apa, Keng Ty to see resounding and beautiful water flows or it’s recommended to be in one-hundred-year-old house, talking to the King of hunters A Ma Cong, listening to his stories about hunters’ trips, dangerous, but very interesting.

Overnight in the village, visitors are encouraged to get drunk with villagers dance round the open fire, drink Ruou can (a special light alcohol), sing and talk heart-to-heart. If you are lucky to be here at festivals, you will be able to enjoy sports and games by elephants or to see with your naked eyes the buff-killing ceremony.

Your visit will be more romantic to taste Com lam (a special rice cooked in bamboo). Presents or souvenirs to buy before home-journey are herbal medicines (collected in the central highland forests). Ban Don remains a wonder, a mystery for discovery.
